DFW Received First SAF Delivery in Pilot Project

December 30, 2021 — Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) received its first delivery of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from Avfuel Corporation and Neste. DFW is the 2nd busiest airport in the world and is the first to pilot this type of circularity project in its SAF supply chain. A subsidiary of Neste collects used cooking oil from restaurants in the airport. Neste then converts the used oil into SAF and Avfuel delivers the supply to DFW. Overall, DFW expects this circular program to reduce emissions and work towards the airport’s goal of being net-zero by 2030. SAF is seen as the most essential component to help the aviation industry reach carbon reduction goals.
