Velocys and Toyo Agree to Produce SAF in Japan

March 5, 2021 — Velocys and Toyo Engineering Corporation have reached an agreement to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and other renewable fuels in Japan. The two companies have previously worked together on the biomass-to-jet fuel demonstration facility in Japan. As part of the new collaboration, the partners are conducting a preliminary engineering evaluation to deliver a commercial scale biomass-to-jet fuel project. Velocys will grant rights to Toyo to secure and use their license and services of the Velocys Fischer-Tropsch technology for the commercial plant. This agreement also extends the use of Velocys technology in other SAF projects in the Japanese market. The commercial technology is now underway with the first stages of engineering designs.
