Sweden Proposes GHG Reduction Mandate for Aviation Fuel
   

19 March 2019 – Sweden joins France and Spain as countries proposing aviation biofuel mandates. As part of Sweden’s goal of being fossil-free by 2045, they have proposed introducing a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction mandate for aviation fuel sold in Sweden. Mandated reductions would begin in 2021 at less than 1% and increase to 27% in 2030. Mandates can assist and are one approach to achieving the industry’s goals of carbon neutral growth from 2020 and a 50% reduction of net carbon emissions from aviation by 2050.
